NISRA's full-time staff work hand-in-hand with a strong group of part-time staff and volunteers, who bring a wide range of talents to programs.

NISRA employs full-time recreation professionals with undergraduate and graduate degrees in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Administration, Education, and related social services fields. Part-time Employment

Do you have a talent you would like to share? Do you enjoy helping people?

Each season NISRA may have openings for part-time staff. Individuals, 17 years and older, may apply for a wide range of roles in our recreation programs. Staff members work together as a team to lead activities, assist participants in developing skills, achieve goals and, most of all, have fun!

Summer, Fall, and Winter/Spring part-time positions include:

• Recreation Program Leader, Assistant, and/or Driver
• Special Olympics Coach, sports Official or Referee
• Lifeguard, Swim Instructor or Assistant
• Inclusion Assistant
• Sign Language Interpreter
• Instructor for visual arts, dance, or music programs

Volunteers

Volunteers play a valuable part in NISRA's programs. With volunteers, we create opportunities where participants can receive more individualized attention. The Association’s recreation program season runs between 6 and 8 weeks in length and we request volunteers to commit for the entire season. Programs consist of a variety of activities including but not limited to assisting at bowling, swimming, cultural arts, social groups and Special Olympics sports. Most weekly programs meet once a week and are 1 – 3 hours in duration. In addition to weekly programs, one day special event opportunities may also be available for individual or group volunteering. Please note, volunteers must be at least 15 years of age or older.

Internships
NISRA welcomes students in Therapeutic Recreation and related majors for fieldwork assignments and internships. NISRA and the student can design a program that will match school requirements, the student's goals and NISRA's expectations. Students have the opportunity to be a part of a wide array of experiences, from planning and implementing programs, to coordinating events, and participating in public relations and administrative activities.
