NISRA Announces New Executive Director as Jim Wiseman Prepares for Retirement

Crystal Lake, IL — The Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA) Board of Directors is proud to announce an exciting leadership transition as longtime Executive Director Jim Wiseman prepares to retire on May 29, following 18 years of dedicated leadership service.

In Jim’s tenure at NISRA, he has championed inclusion, expanded programs, strengthened partnerships, and helped shape NISRA into a thriving organization that enriches the lives of people with disabilities through meaningful recreation experiences.

With great enthusiasm, the Board of Directors has named Heidi Jenkins as NISRA’s next Executive Director. Heidi, who currently serves as Superintendent of Recreation, will officially step into her new role on May 1, ensuring a seamless and thoughtful transition.

Throughout Heidi’s time at NISRA, she has been a driving force behind innovative programming, staff development, and meaningful participant experiences. Her deep understanding of the organization’s mission, combined with her genuine compassion and leadership, make her exceptionally well-suited to guide NISRA into its next chapter.
