NISRA Appoints Rebecca Moore as Superintendent of Recreation

Crystal Lake, IL — The Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA) is proud to announce the appointment of Rebecca Moore as its new Superintendent of Recreation.
Moore brings more than a decade of experience in therapeutic recreation and inclusive programming, along with a strong track record of leadership, innovation, and community collaboration. She has been a dedicated member of the NISRA team since 2015, most recently serving as Senior Manager of Recreation for the last 5 years.
In her new role, Moore will oversee the agency’s recreation department, including the planning, development, and implementation of programs, events, and services that enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities across NISRA’s 13 member districts.
“Rebecca’s passion for inclusion, combined with her deep understanding of our programs and participants, makes her an exceptional fit for this role,” said Heidi Jenkins, incoming Executive Director. “Her leadership has already made a lasting impact on our agency, and we are excited to see her continue to grow and lead in this new capacity.”
Throughout her tenure at NISRA, Moore has held several key positions, including Northwest Regional Coordinator and Manager of Day Camp and Outreach. She has played an integral role in expanding program offerings, strengthening community partnerships, enhancing operational systems and leading Lifeguard, CPR, and AED staff training.
Moore holds a Master of Science in Parks and Recreation Administration from Northwest Missouri State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Northern Iowa. She is a Certified Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE) and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). In 2020, she was recognized nationally as a recipient of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) 30 Under 30 award.
“I am honored to step into this role and continue serving the NISRA community,” said Moore. “I’m passionate about creating opportunities for individuals of all abilities to connect, grow, and thrive through recreation, and I look forward to building on NISRA’s strong foundation.”
NISRA remains committed to providing high-quality, inclusive recreation opportunities and looks forward to the continued leadership and vision Moore will bring to the organization.
