NISRA Host Site for LGMC 2022 Summer Intern Program

Leadership Greater McHenry County Nonprofit Leadership Intern Program – Apply Today!

The LGMC Nonprofit Leadership Intern Program has been established to address the growing need for leadership development and succession planning within the nonprofit sector. This LGMC program provides an immersive internship experience that includes hands-on project work and professional development training. The program provides a unique opportunity to students studying in a variety of college majors. NISRA is one of the 6 host sites for this 2022 Summer Intern Program.

Six interns will be selected for the Summer 2022 program through a competitive application and interview process. Interns will be matched with participating McHenry County, IL nonprofit organizations based on interests, skills, and the host’s specific needs. During the eight-week paid internship, students will gain first-hand knowledge of the McHenry County nonprofit community, its leadership, and organizations. Interns will benefit from working closely with senior leaders and will have an opportunity to build their own leadership skills, understand basic board roles and responsibilities, and increase their nonprofit financial acumen.

Internship Experience

Interns will spend three and one-half days each week with their full-time host organization, and one-half day per week with one of several other nonprofit organizations. The assignment of these additional nonprofit experiences will broaden the understanding of the full spectrum of nonprofit work within McHenry County.

Each Friday interns will gather as a cohort to engage in professional development training to explore various aspects of effective nonprofit leadership. An action learning project is incorporated to provide an opportunity for immediate integration of new learning.
